Having Faith and Preparing the fields !

There is a parable about two farmers waiting for rain it goes something like this.
There were two farmers who desperately needed rain. Both prayed for rain however only one of the farmers went out and prepared his field to receive the rain.
Which one do you think actually received the rain? The farmer who went out and prepared his field of course! Not only did he pray about his situation, he stepped out in faith that God was honoring his request and already had the rain on its way. His fields were ready to receive what God was bringing!!

As I stood there with excitement of my newest find, a friend asked me.. "Are you getting your hopes up?" I said No I am just preparing. See I had heard this same statement many years ago a few times. Back about 9 years ago now, my husband and I found out we were unable to concieve a child because of a medical reason within my husband. We had already started collecting little things for a baby as we had been trying for over a year and our family had handed down to stuff to us. We put a crib in our extra room and we had friends look at us weird and even our most strongest grounded Christians in Faith asked us why we would do that. They would say things like "aren't you just getting your hopes up for something that might not happen?" No, No we are not, I would say.  What we did all those years ago is agreed to trust that God would fill that crib someday with our baby! We "prepared the fields" and prayed that it would happen , and no it was not immediate, we even moved 2 hours away and still set that crib right back up. This was our step of faith, it was a visual way for us to say yes God! we trust that you will give us our hearts desire! And guess what?!?!? He did! Just 9 months (Yes very Ironic) after we moved to Sacramento we adopted a baby boy! We prepared the fields and prayed and God provided.
So we are doing it again! We are going through the foster/adopt program here and are praying for a baby girl to complete our little family. So as we pray and prepare for this we are collecting little items that you need for babies. Clothes and a bouncer, car seat etc.. So we are preparing our fields again as we have the strongest faith that God will provide us with the perfect little baby girl to be apart of our family! And the best part is watching our son get excited with us, it's not just the two of us anymore but the three of us and he is sooo excited and prays for his future little sister daily! Really melts a mamas heart!
2 Corinthians 5.7 says “For we are to walk by faith, not by sight.”
To walk by faith and not by sight, we can't allow our circumstances to overwhelm us with fear, doubt and stress, even thought they sometimes do. Let's look at the two farmers again. They both prayed for rain but only one prepared! He didn’t allow the circumstances to block his vision of faith or to sway his belief that God would bring the much needed rain. He didn’t sit looking out the window staring at his barren, dry fields shaking his head complaining about the situation! He prayed to God, asked him for rain and then went to prepare for God’s blessing for him.
That's what God calls us to do!  So that's what I am doing! I am preparing for God's blessings in my life whatever they may be and yes, I am having fun with it!:-)

When God promises us that he will take care of the situation,  that He is in control, no matter what our circumstances are that surrounds us, no matter what things may be going against us, we are to walk by faith and not by sight! So basically, our rain is coming to drench our fields, so we better prepare!
What are you doing to prepare your fields for God’s rain in your life?
